What we look for

A real drive-in project, ready to move

Locked script (feature, limited series, or short), director attached, budget between $200k and $3M. B-movies, sci-fi, creature features, westerns, found-footage — all welcome. No anthologies of unrelated shorts.

A team that can deliver

At minimum: a director with a finished prior work (short or feature) and a producer who has closed a budget before. First-time directors with seasoned genre producers are welcome.

A clear use of funds

Top-sheet budget at minimum, full schedule preferred. Planet Drive In typically funds 25–60% of the cap stack alongside tax credits, soft money, and traditional equity.

Comfort with transparency

Our backers are investors. They get a deck, cap table, quarterly production update, and a real revenue statement. If radical transparency feels uncomfortable, this isn't the right home.

Day 0
Deck, locked script, lookbook, director's reel, top-sheet budget. We respond within 10 business days.

Creative & financial review
Week 1–2
Our acquisitions team reads the script. Our finance team stress-tests the budget, cap structure, and legal readiness.

Greenlight call
Week 2–3
If we're a fit, a 45-minute call with the director and lead producer. We agree on campaign target, perks, revenue split, and timeline.
04
Legal & compliance setup
Week 3–5
SEC filings, escrow, accredited-investor verification (where required), investor agreements. You countersign the term sheet.
05
Campaign page production
Week 5–6
We build the campaign page with you: trailer, director's pitch video, perks, budget breakdown, FAQ. Most directors spend 4–6 hours on materials.
06
Launch
Week 6
Campaign goes live to Planet Drive In's drive-in cinema investor community. Typical run is 30–60 days. Funds released on close, governed by milestone draws.

The fine print

Fees, splits, and what we don't do

Platform fee

5% of funds raised, deducted at campaign close.

Legal/compliance

2–3% of funds raised, paid from escrow.

Backer revenue share

Negotiated per project. Typical range: 15–30% of producer's net for 7 years.

Creative control

100% yours. We never give script notes.

Distribution

Non-exclusive. Planet Drive In gets first-window streaming rights only if you choose.

What we won't fund

AI-generated narrative features, or projects without a locked script.
